Flights of Fancy Pigeons
Leonard James: 2022
It started in 2004 with a chance discovery of an unusual notebook at a car boot sale in the Lancashire town of Carnforth. The notebook contained several pages that were filled with photographs, diagrams and texts showcasing over 50 varieties of fancy pigeons and was inscribed with the name G. Opine. Upon a more detailed examination of these notebook pages it became apparent that there were several regional and specialised varieties that were currently not listed in any publication including Joachim Schutte's comprehensive "Handbuch der Taubenrassen" (handbook of pigeon breeds).
This began a nearly 20 year obsession of collecting and compiling the collected Notebooks and histories of this G. Opine (George Opine). Presented below are 23 notebook pages for previously unlisted fancy pigeons.
